we bought 3 bulbs of garlic from seeds of change, broke them into cloves and planted 4-5 per 12″ x 12″ square. they are planted with about 1.5-2″ of soil on top of them and straw on top for mulch. the garlic should mature in late july/early august. this is our second year planting garlic. we did well with the soft neck variety this past season harvesting several bulbs for our own consumption. great reading on this subject can be found in the book growing great garlic.
