First farmer’s market

August 23, 2009

Thanks to our friends at Urban Growth Farm in Ohio City, we spent our first day on the other side of the market stand! Though our contribution to the product side of things was small, it was thrilling to see people buy our goods…..it felt really good and inspired us to continue on this path. The market was at Howe Meadow and is different from farmer’s markets we have been to in other parts of the state, or anywhere else for that matter. People line up at a gate and when the market opens, a bell is rung and the stampede begins. Several people rush to the most popular stands to buy their goods before those goods sell out. As we get closer to doing this on a more frequent basis, I will post more details about how to get started at a farmer’s market.
