Services
Bay Branch Farm offers the following services:
Assistance to others
Bay Branch Farm has benefited from the sound advice and mentoring from those who have been farming far longer than we have. This support has helped us advance our own urban farm dream and we would be happy to share and contribute our lessons learned to anyone interested. Part of our mission as a farm is to help others grow their own food and grow food for the wider community. Please contact us if you have questions about farming, want to visit our urban farm, or just want some advice on how to get started. We also welcome your assistance and advice as we continue to learn as we go.
Plot preparation and primary tillage services
Last summer Bay Branch Farm purchased a Grillo 107d 2-wheel tractor with a Berta Rotary Plow attachment (“Bertha”). The farm made this investment to help with primary tillage on an urban plot. Had the option been available to rent or hire, we would have gone that route. Since we could not find this option locally, we purchased our own. And, now we offer this service to others who are starting out and need help with primary tillage and soil prep. The Grillo is a 2-wheel tractor that is an invaluable tool for small urban farms. Attachments can be interchanged. The rotary plow pulverizes, leaving friable soil in its wake.

Tool sharing
Having the right tools can make the difference between success and frustration. We have been fortunate to gain several tools through purchase, trade, Craigslist, yard sales, and dumpster diving and are open to sharing tools with others pursuing the urban farm dream. Contact us to discuss your needs.

Annabel: It was great to see you and Eric at OEFFA. The photos of your hive construction are incredible. Good luck with the coming season. Louis
It’s Justin from Market Gardener Training Program. Are you interested in grillo-ing 17,000 feet? Please let me know. If not, I understand.
I’ve been waiting for a tractor to fall out of the sky with no such luck. Craigslist hasn’t helped either.
Hi Justin,
Thanks for reaching out. Let’s chat during class on Tuesday.
